The ocean, soothing and peaceful, that's what they say, right? Even if it wasn't true, it's what Liam thought and that was why he had decided to spend some time by it's side. He had started to spend an awful lot of time around the docks recently, he hadn't really noticed but a few of the local fishermen had. On a few occasions over the past week he had been asked why he was spending so much time in the area, whether it was for a young lady that spent a lot of time there, or if he was aspiring to become a fisherman himself. It was neither of those reasons, in fact it was somewhat of a sad one. His parents' were beginning to voice their annoyance with his lack of job, study, wife and various other things. They wanted him to do something decent with his life, instead of what he did. What did he do? Not much really, he pretty much just sat around, spent some time with the friends he had and didn't care much for anything his parents told him he should do for the good of the family, or for the good of himself. He didn't care really, he didn't want anything that his parents had, except the money of course. He had no interest in the social side of it, the popularity, the glamor, he just wanted to live a simple life, but with lots of money. He had come to the docks many times over the past few weeks, the fighting had gotten worse. It would either end with a yelling match or with quiet but serious words thrown around the room, but he would always leave in a huff and drive to the docks to clear his head and calm his anger. He wasn't really an angry person, but his parents telling him that they weren't happy with the way he lived his life just got under his skin, he needed the time alone, away from the family home.
Taking a deep breath Liam pulled a cigarette packet out of his pocket. He opened it and put one of the many cigarettes between his lips and reached into his pocket for the lighter that he rarely went anywhere without. As he did so the cigarette fell from his lips and landed in the water below where he was sitting with a soft splash. "You're fucking kidding." He muttered as he rolled his eyes, placed his beloved lighter on the wood next to him and got another cigarette. Making sure he didn't lose this one, he put the packet back into his pocket and lit it up. Taking a few short puffs to get it going, he looked down at the one that had fallen. "Go on, float away, do what I won't." He sighed a little as he took a few more puff of the cigarette. He would never leave his parents' home, unless something very important took him away, though he couldn't think of anything that could possibly be that. He hadn't done anything with his life, other than go to college to be a lawyer and then do nothing with the knowledge. After another few puffs and another deep sigh he looked down at the water again, the fallen cigarette was gone, probably underneath him now. It was then that he heard footsteps behind him, he wondered who it could be, but then realised that he didn't really care.

reia laughed inside of herself. she had just been about to call this guy crazy, and she was the one who was about to fling herself off of a dock; just for the hell of it. she paused breifly, just to make sure she wasn't wearing anything white where it could reveal, and decided her green teeshirt and tight, black running shorts would have to do for a quick swim. reia knew she probably wasn't supposed to be swimming by the docks, but lately she'd been doing wild and crzy things, for no other reason than that she wanted to. be careful of strangers, one of her mother's most famous sayings popped into her head, stranger danger! and there another. she hated how controlling her parents used to be, and she hated even more that she'd abandoned them, and now she never spoke a word to them. reaching the end of the dock, reia sat down, and busted out laughing, taking of her shoes and socks, and slowly , but surely, submerging herself in the water, and poking bck up for air. she then turne her attention to the stranger, who by now probably thought he should be looking up therapists for her. reia smiled, hi. i'm reia. reia archer. did she really care if she got his name? not at that particular moment; but something told her the new name would be a major part of her life, if she got it so, she waited, treading water., smiling all the while.

Growing up here, he had learned to not make a big deal about some random doing something strange, though he still looked and had one of those confused looks on his face, always. He wasn't one to point it out though, so when the laughing blonde lowered herself into the water he just stared. He didn't say anything, not to her or to anyone else that could have been around, there really wasn't many people around, one or two really. Liam laughed quietly under his breath as she came back up, focusing her attention on him. And then she spoke, he wasn't expecting it really, he thought that she was just going to continue swimming around near him, keeping to herself mostly. A small look of surprise found it's way to his face when she spoke, introducing herself. He smiled and replied. "Liam Maynard." He said it simply, without much emotion, which surprised him a little. His mood had improved, yet his voice had made it seem that it hadn't. "I don't think you should be doing that." He motioned to her treading water. He was pretty certain that swimming off the docks wasn't allowed. Taking a quick look around to see if there was any authority type people around, he sighed. Once he was sure there was none around, he looked back to Reia. "So, why are you down there anyway?" He asked, genuine curiosity in his voice.

Reia smiled. Nice to meet you, Liam. She continued treading water, thinking of what it would be like to just stop, and fall into the deep, dark water. The water. Now that Reia let the thought sneak into her mind, the water was freezing cold. She didn't want to have to explain to her boss why she acquired pneumonia on her week long break.
She pulled herself over to the edge, climbing back onto the dock, No, I'm not supposed to be doing that....that's why it's so fun! Reia knew that if she was caught swimming on the docks by an actual cop or guard, she'd have to pay a heavy fine, possibly serve a night or two in the local jail.
She wrung her hair out, and slowly made her way a bit closer to Liam. Reia shrugged, It's a nice break from life. Just to let go for a few moments.... She realized she was probably heading into a deep conversation, that a - basically - total stranger probably didn't want to have with her.
She dug into her back pocket, and pulled out the cigarette she'd secretly picked up earlier, holding it out to Liam, I know it's probably not worth anything now, but here's your cigarette.
Yep, I'm officially a crazy person, Reia thought to herself, still holding out the cigarette, I meet one cute guy and I have to pull a Reia! She waited, dumbfounded on what she was going to say when he realized she was serious about giving the tobacco stuffed paper back.

He nodded to say that it was nice to meet her too, though in is current mood he didn't really care. Liam watched her as she climbed out of the water that he assumed to be rather cold, and sit next to him. It seemed that he was going to be getting a conversation of sorts thrown his way. He didn't really mind, it could be nice to talk to someone at the moment, maybe he could rant and she wouldn't mind? That would be wonderful, at least he thought so, Reia on the other hand mightn't feel the same way about it. A break from life, that sounded like something that could do Liam a world of good, though he had never really experienced "life", being given everything he wanted and not having to do anything to get it. He smiled a little, thinking about what people would think if he jumped into the cold water off the docks one day. Not that he ever cared what people thought, but they would stare and wonder why Liam Maynard was acting like a crazy person. Drugs, and excessive night of partying? Something along those lines, he could just imagine the rumors, how his parents would react, maybe they would finally force him to move out and start his own life? Liam shook his head softly and chuckled under his breath a little and focused his attention back to the blonde.
He hoped that she hadn't noticed that he had pretty much skipped over her mention of letting go and taking a break from life. He wasn't one to talk about his life with people he just met. Though he was one to rant about things, though he didn't want to annoy Reia, she seemed like a nice girl. "Uh, thanks." He said with a slightly confused look on his face as he took the wet cigarette out of her hand and slid into his pocket. He wasn't going to tell her, but later he would let it dry out and he would smoke it, he liked cigarettes a little too much, but it was something that he had to hide from his parents, his uncle had died a few years back from ling cancer, he had been a smoker. His mother was against it before, but that just sent her overboard with her hate for it, you can just imagine what she'd do if she found out about her son smoking. "Do you come down here often?" Liam spoke slowly and clearly, but with a slightly awkward tone, he didn't know what to talk about.

But if he hung out with Reia, he'd definitely be more risky. It was just a 'reia thing', as she called it.
So, what brings you to the docks today? I'm guessing something slightly stressful? She nodded towards his cigarette, in case he didn't understand why she'd ask if it was something stressful.
Reia automatically assumed that everyone thought she was a mild, if not full on, crazy person. It happened a lot, due to her personality. When she met someone, Reia wasn't afraid to discuss personal things with them. It was just in her blood to listen to what others had to say, and to enjoy it. That was the only thing her parents had taught her before leaving her out to fend for herself.
Fortunately, Reia's adoptive parents found her. She was a baby, out all alone on the streets where her parents had left her. They've been much better parents than her birth parents ever could have been, and Reia is ever so greatfull they took her in.
Reia had realized at the beginning of her conversation with Liam that she was 'into him', if that's how you say it. At the very least, she was attracted to him. Would you want to hang out today? The worst he could do was refuse her, and that wasn't exactly a new thing for Reia.

What brings him here today? What didn't bring him here today. Okay, so it wasn't a heap of things, just the one, or two, really. Parents are horrid things, always telling you how to live your life, what to do and how to do it right, or more correctly how to do it the way that they wanted you to. He didn't hate them, not really, he could pretend all he liked, it just wasn't true and never would be. They allowed him to live under their roof, free of charge with the love and care of a mother, he wasn't going to throw all that away. No chance in hell. "It's nice here." He shrugged, it wasn't really a lie he did think it was nice. Quickly after speaking he shook his head and spoke again, "no, I lie. Well, it is nice but that's not why I'm here, not really." He paused for a second, pondering whether he should really tell this strange girl that he had just met about his troubles. He decided that it couldn't hurt and he continued. "Fight with my parents, I know what you're thinking, what does it matter, he's old enough to survive on his own. While that is true, I like the comfort and such of the family home." Everyone who knew who he was and anything about his family knew that he lived at home with his parents, one more soul wasn't going to hurt.
For some reason, unknown to Liam, he felt comfortable around Reia, at least after she had sat down and simply talked, not when she was in the water or being crazy, not that he thought that was overly odd anyway. He was a little shocked when she asked if he wanted to hang out, it wasn't something that he was often asked, especially by someone that he had just met. But he liked her, she seemed nice. He threw her a charming smile and answered her question. "Sure, nothing better to do." As soon as he spoke he realised that some would take the 'nothing better to do' comment as an insult, which is how he did not intend it to be. "I don't mean that as a bad thing. Really." He was getting awkward, he really needed to get out more, spend time with people other than his parents and that one close friend that seemed to live at his house. It was good to go out and socialise, right? "So." He paused, "what're we going to do?"
