i've lived like hell, done it well
and i've got the scars to prove it
even with a ring on her finger, she was still unsure about his feelings for her, she was still hesitant about moving forward in what was now marked as their own destiny and that bothered him. the phone hit the ground with a loud crash, bursting into pieces as his foot slammed down on the receiver as if his own father was getting the brunt of the attack of a foot to his face. the shrieking voice on the other end died away from a fuzzy, imperceptible noise to nothing and kael was unsatisfied. stepping out of the club was a start but it was not the finish for the male as he kicked the pieces away from his view, scattering them across the sidewalk to go every which way and stepped over them, moving onto his next destination. he would not have a way to be contacted and for that, kael was rather pleased with the idea of being unreachable, unattainable, if only for a night. his fiancé, his whatever she was, would not even worry as she had enough company in the unannounced swinger club, in his eyes, to sustain her attention, something that kael was unable to do. rushing a hand through his hair, he flicked the dulled out cigarette aside, allowing his foot to come down on the butt with a satisfying crunch as he put the flame out and brought another cigarette to his lips. nestling it between the plump cupid’s bow and his bottom lip, he lit the end up once more and took a deep breath of the toxins that he was addicted to, relying on them to calm him, to soothe him and even to make him forget about his trouble but only for a puff, after that, the toxins left his body and he felt more empty than when he had originally started. alcohol did not seem to be the answer for his ache in his chest, a needle to the vein just seemed ridiculous even in the most drastic of heartaches, but he had no idea what to do, so kael, just walked. his steps taking him further away from his fiancé and closer to another world that he had not yet fully introduced himself too.
the dock that he was now walking upon was empty, he was able to see that much detail with a swift glance around as his own alert started to come on high. he was tired of the pushing and shoving, his neck aching from the amount of time that the girl had made his head turn. he was exhausted to a point that the energetic male had never reached before, even with the profession that he had been forced into. his feet dangled from the edge of the pier, looking down to the choppy wonder with a moment of wonderment, rising onto his feet after a moment and climbing onto the railing. his feet were steady on the small plank of wood and for a moment, the earth stood still. he missed ireland, he missed home and being someone who actually wanted him, he wanted his profession to be overlooked but could not find the strength to walk away from the only thing that he had ever known. the words previously spoken to his fiancé were stinging his tongue as they had been sharper than intended but they were meant, they were felt at that moment that kael, once more, was not good enough. the thought had his body already starting to lean forward, ready to take the plunge and let the waves carry him home which was a place that was appearing better than ever now. maddock and blair could easily take care of themselves and in the united states, his fiancé could take off the ring and hide in the city of miami, something that he was sure that his father would never touch. a sudden voice turned the dark thoughts off as he nearly stumbled to catch his once solid bearings, steadying himself once more and glancing to the source of the voice, ”yes?’
