AND IT WAS YOUR HEART ON THE LINE There wasn't anything particularly special about today; just another afternoon with the spring sun high in the sky with scarcely a cloud in sight to hinder it. Everything and everyone the spring light touched seemed to have a glow to it. And if Julian were more romantic and sentimental the whole scene around him would have been beautiful and peaceful, but as it was, Julian was not a romantic, he never dotted his 'i's with hearts and he just didn't care. That was the reason he barely glanced at the people around him as he dismounted his classic motorcycle, old fashioned chrome on maroon but it was certain to caught the eye. Adjusting his headphones off his ears to hang around his neck, disregarding the song that was currently playing, he swung the local cafe's door open. A swarm of smells hit him all at once. A strong aroma of coffee being the most obvious and then an under lying smell of all the sugar pastries behind the display counter that he didn't want to know had been sitting out for how long. He wasn't here for those anyways, Jules just wanted the coffee since he was having a drag on day like most days. There was just nothing exciting anymore, and he really started to feel down and lazy. He'd have to correct that soon. He grinned from behind his shades at the cashier that he gave his straight black coffee order to. He was nearly going through withdrawals, granted his hands weren't shaking and his eyes weren't that nasty yellow color, but his heart beat was slow (average) and that all too familiar spike of adrenaline was rock bottom. That's why he'd guessed that if he consumed enough liquid caffeine he'd feel like normal. Or at least his tainted version of normal. He was half tempted to walk out of the shop and jump out in front of the next car that came by, but just has his feet turned toward the door his name was announced for pick up. Sighing and running a hand through his wild chestnut brown hair, before wrapping his fingers around his heated paper cup and hoisting it to his lips. He resisted the urge to spit out what he had just drank, "That's not my coffee." Addressing the man handing out the orders, Jules arched an eyebrow and repeated himself offering the cup back, "Um, this isn't my coffee." It wasn't until he glanced down at the man extended hand did the hawaiian release that his name was loudly written in black sharpie on that cup, and with a quick glance at his hand, he also realized that the cup clearly didn't have his name. "Right, well, I'll just take that, thank you." he said as he reached for his actually cup of coffee. Julian Monreau without his untamed behavior and reckless actions was a shell of his true self. __ OUTFIT |

rolling over under the leopard print sheets shaina let out a loud groan. her head was pounding and the constant vibration of her phone on the night stand was starting to iritate her. whoever was calling her, it must have been urgent because they wouldnt stop. the buzzing finally ceased but then proceeded again. letting out an angry huff shane pushed herself up off the bed and trudged over to her phone answering she snapped "i will talk to you at a reasonable hour." and hung up. she was too tired and to hungover to deal with this. heading into the bathroom she looked at the mop of a bun on her head and her makeup running down her face. it was probably a good idea to shower and get on with her day. hoping into the steaming hot shower she let the water run on her for a good half hour before taking twenty minutes to finish.
getting dressed in a simple white cami, plaid shirt, shorts and black combat boots she braided a pice of hair and let the rest air dry into a light curl. doing a slight bit of makeup she made her bed and headed into the small living room / kitchen area. grabbing an apple she bit into it but made a disgusted face. it was way past its prime and she was in the mood for coffee anyway. grabbing her keys she reached for her bag and phone before exiting her dads small beach house. heading out to her piece of crap small red convertible car she started it after several failed attempts. "piece of junk car" she grumbled heading towards the local coffee shop. she was miserbale when she was hung over. driving she would stop and beep at people here and there that were in her way but finally pulled into a parking spot. grabbing her money she left her phone and bag under the seat. locking the car she walked into the store.
keeping her head down and sunglasses on she heard a familiar voice. stopping in her tracks she looked up and a grin appeared on her face when julian turned around. "you have got to be kidding me right now." was all she managed to get out, putting her hands on her hips. "long time no see bud." she said sliding her sunglasses on her head. "looking good" she said winking at him playfully.

AND IT WAS YOUR HEART ON THE LINE Without so much as a word, Julian returned the that wasn't his, partly because he felt mistaken for spoiling someone else's drink but not enough to actually utter an apology or doing anything other then grab is own real cup with his name. As he lifted his brewed black coffee to his lips, more bubbly written sharpie revealed itself on the back. Seven digits arranged neatly on the thick paper with 'x's and 'o's under them. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he thought of the girl that took his order. At least today wasn't going to be a total lose, he still had a chance to make the night more exciting and eventful. Thoughts drifted as he turned, though it was then that something much more appealing then a phone number caught his eye. The embodiment trouble stood in front of him. His eyes trailed from the tips of her black boots, up her slender and toned legs with that unique miami tan, all the way to her long wavy brunette lengths of hair, catching her added wink once his gaze was finished with the rest of her body and on her face. With that voice he knew exactly what little rebel he was looking at, and to be honest he was a bit taken aback by her appearance here but the the little shocked jolt that went through his system was intoxicating that she could surprise him any day she wanted. It did more for him than his coffee ever would but he took another sip anyways before cooing back his response, "Aloha to you too beautiful."he never thought that any part of his life in Hawaii would ever find him again but if it was going to drop Shaina straight into his lap then jules couldn't complain. "So," a smirk inflicted his cool as chrome voice, as he took his free hand to slide his sunglasses off and hook them off his pocket, "you could have just called Shane, you didn't have to come all the way to the mainland just because you missed seeing my cute ass back home." it was only really funny to him because he was 90 percent sure that she had hated him back on the island. Something about how he was trying to sleep with every woman or something, it was a while ago but he'd still like to try to hit on her regardless of what she said. "but since you're here, how about a hug?" He tilted his head teasingly and pinned her with a smoldering stare as he spread his arms out for her expectantly. __ OUTFIT |

she knew at that moment that she should walk out the door, leave things the way that they were in the past. but shane couldnt help but feel the rebel inside of her trying to get out. she wanted to do anything she could to piss daddy dearest off and if that meant spending time with this womanizing adrenaline freak, so be it. she looked him up and down, returning the favor as he did it to her. time had done well for him, and obviously he thought the same on her part. she hadnt seen him in a few years, months, who knew at this point. all of her days were blurring together. taking her sunglasses off and putting them in her bag she put her hands on her hips looking at him as he spoke, not much had changed really.
listening to him speak she chuckled to herself stepping forward walking past him to get in line and order herself a coffee. she needed the energy before she was going to put up with any type of shenanigans he wanted to get into. hearing him remark of calling first she let out a laugh and held onto her stomach. "oh jules. sweetie, dont flatter yourself" she said putting her hand on his shoulder before letting go and ordering a coffee with a shot of caramel espresso. back on the mainland she did hate him, with a passion. she hated how he acted and how he tried to get in every girls pants but she dealt with it. she let out a groan to herself watching him spread his arms for a hug.
"dont hold your breath on that one kid" she said simply nodding at him stating that she wasnt going to hug him. she had no interest in anything physical, at this moment. if anything were to happen down the line who was to say now she'd stop herself? of course that would risk being a hypocrite but hey, she was trying to get back at her dad right? " i see you havent changed" she said nodding again recieving her coffee and paying standing in front of him again sipping at the straw.

AND IT WAS YOUR HEART ON THE LINE it had been a while...for the lack of a better term. Julian was by no means counting the days since he had moved away. All he knew was the general terms that seemed to fit the amount of time that he hadn't seen his favorite little rebel. Though she didn't seem disgusted by his presence or the fact that he was talking to her, which should have been his first tip that something was odd. He stole another sip of his coffee as she joked off his greeting. A dark eyebrow spiked up at her curiously, if not intrigued. 'Sweetie' when did she ever call him that? That was tip off number two, number three was when she gave him a reassuring hand on the shoulder in a joking way. Maybe she really did miss him back in hawaii, he couldn't explain her sudden change of heart toward him any other way. Slapping a cat-ate-the-canary smile on his face, he refused to put his spread wide arms down. He was going to get a hug from someone by the end of this. "Come on, i don't bite unless i'm asked to, so i'm harmless," comically he waved his arms to see if he could weasel a rare hug from her, careful not to spill his coffee everywhere. Nothing. Scoffing his expression feel to disappointed as he said, "fine, maybe later then." Dropping his arms he mulled over possibly ways to get a hug as he watched her get her much more fancy coffee from the corner of his eye. He leaned against the edge of the counter that was still at his back and switched his emotions again. Jules felt nearly bipolar with out his adrenaline fix for the week, but he cocked his head and shrugged a shoulder lazily, "I've changed plenty, sweetheart," he teasingly threw the nickname back at her with a clever grin, "you just can't see it cause it under my shirt. but if you want i could show you." Just as he was lifting his cup for another sip during the lull in conversation, he suddenly halted and looked at her from around his paper cup, "What about you? You are a long way from home, got any reasons for being here instead of there?" He could admit to not really following up on all of Hawaii's affairs, if it didn't concern him then he didn't really care, this was one of those things. All he was aware was that she had divorced parents and she was a year younger then him with some attitude issues, for all he knew maybe he had applied to the college here. Slipping his free hand into his jean's pocket, jules spoke up again, "Don't tell me you just came to Florida for the oranges because let me tell you, they aren't as great as everyone says." He added a definite nod at the end with a classic grin. __ OUTFIT |

finding it a little concidental that she ran into him here in this coffee shop in miami shania couldnt help but wonder how long it had been since she had last seen julian. she hated him, well not hate because that is such a strong word, but she despised him back on the island. she hated the way he treated women, and acted as if he could get any girl at any time, and trying to make her one of his victims, never really worked out. shane let out a small sigh chewing at the straw that stuck out of her iced coffee drink. she had not been counting the days since she had last seen him either, it just had been a while. a month, two, year or so? she didnt know, but time had done its work on him and he was looking pretty good. time had done its work and her, and who was to say now if he tried his little games to get her in bed she'd say no?
watching him, with still spread arms she smirked. "and who says i dont like a biter?" she said winking at him. this was all part of shane's game. to get on his good side so she had some way to piss her dad off, was that bad? using someone for her own advantage? she didnt know, but it was fun in her mind. staring at him blankly before blinking she took another long sip of her coffee, feeling the cafiene start to settle into her blood stream, she was starting to get ansy, she wanted to do something, go somewhere or do someone. listening to him speak again she looked up this time and blinked at him util he was done talking. she let out a laugh, not a chuckle but a pure laugh. "if thats your way of trying to get in my pants, youre gonna have to try harder then that, honey" she said throwing another pet name at him. she actually enjoyed playing these games with him, he was competition and to her, that was always well needed.
"but hey, ill give you an a for effort and who knows, if you keep pushing i may just let that happen" she said sending another joking playful wink his way, although she was 50 percent joking fifty percent not joking. he was good looking, she would give him that, but some part of her felt he was not that good in bed, that made her chuckle out loud and smirk to herself but she was soon snapped back into reality as he spoke again. asking her why she was here she let out a long sigh before rolling her eyes. "you know about the divorce, well mom wants me to quote on quote rekindle my shattered relationship with my father." she said making air quotations before rolling her eyes. "like that will happen" she mumbled under her breathe. everyone knew she had a nasty attitude and hse was not afraid to show that she didnt want to be here. listening to him rant about the oranges she let out a laugh and looked at him. "oranges, really?" and raised her eyebrow at him before shaking her head, he was a piece of work.

AND IT WAS YOUR HEART ON THE LINE Julian nearly cough up his coffee. Thankfully no spit takes were made, he just was surprise. Pleasantly surprise, if he were to truly say. He’d have to keep that little tid-bit of information in mind should him and Shane ever got stuck in a very intimate situation. So she liked it a bit rough, biting, who knew. This new playful, teasing girl was a lot more fun and Jules was actually toying with the idea that they might just get along. it was a change from the life he knew in Hawaii but he was a man that liked change, he himself never liked really repeating history. He was never a really big history buff anyways, one of his worse classes if he were to recall correctly. But that didn’t apply, what did matter was that his rather down in the proverbial dumps was repairing itself with ever flirt. Or attempt to by the way the long haired beauty seemed to be blowing him off as nicely as possible. He wanted to roll his eyes, but he kept to his smirk as a promise to try harder. She was just a tough shelled girl that needed to be cracked before anyone could get to the moist center. “Give me an a plus and I’ll give you more then just effort. I’ll give you determination,” as if that was all he would give her, “And a few love bites since you seem to be into those.” There was no wink attached to the comment, if she had been somewhat serious, he was going to show that he was too without those cheesy advances men tried on women to show that they wanted someone in bed with them that night. She looked more toned too, so the whole beauty aspect was being knocked out of the park, the batter just wished her had a better view. At her distasteful display of emotions over her reason for being here in Miami, in the same little café as him, Julian arched an eyebrow during her explanation. “Daddy issues, huh,” one of his hands came up to rub his forehead as he thought, “Seems to me like you have two opinions, really. Either you play the good girl and become daddy’s angel again,” his hand fell to brush invisible something off the planes of his shirt, “or you just yelled ‘fuck it, let’s make life hell’ and let things crumple where they may.” The latter was the way he felt about anyone that told him to get help for his nasty little adrenaline habit. He only cared for one opinion about his well-being and that woman didn’t even acknowledge him; like he was some curse or something, well he had become one because of the lack of motherly care. Her question snapped his interest away from his lucid thoughts. Ah, the oranges. Those commercials lied, Jules had tasted better fruits in bars, and they compared nothing to the wild grown juices in his home state. “Yes, the oranges,” he nodded and sipped his coffee, which he found was becoming bland, “all the bull about ‘Florida oranges’ is crap. Don’t listen to the commercials and don’t stop off on the side of the road to rob a orange framer’s tree’s, the loot isn’t very sweet, it’s bitter.” All true, he had hopped a fence to jack some fruit when he first moved, the effort was not worth the reward. __ OUTFIT |

seeing him nearly choke up his coffee shaina couldnt help but let out a small chuckle followed by a smirk forming across her lips. "oh i know you werent expecting me to say that hm?" she said raising her eyebrow at him. she looked at him and then took a quick sip from her coffee before speaking agian. "ive decided that what is in the past is past and im willing to be nice to you, this time around" she siad nodding. it was true, she wasnt really the same person that she was back home, and that obviously came as a shock to him as he almost spit his coffee all over her and all over the floor. although nothing had changed with her personality, she was still that rough girl that no one could get through to, especially not even him no matter how hard he tried. she noticed his smirk and took that as an acceptance to try harder and that made her smirk back, she was up for a good game of back and forth here and then. she leaned against the empty table that was behind her waiting for him to speak, with every word she knew she was digging herself into a deeper and deeper hole.
as he added determination for an a plus she let out another chuckle before looking at him as he added the love bites comment. raising her eyebrow she looked at him, no wink, no playful little comment after. so she knew he was being serious, and maybe she was too. she did enjoy lifes indulgences as much as the next person, and anything physical was under that caategory. she looked at him and nodded "ill have to remember that later tonight then, wont i" she said, also following up with no wink or type of game. in all seriousness she would probably hit him up sometime either later, depends if she got drunk tonight or not, for a little bedroom fun. she was sure that was going to surprise him, since before she had always been so adimant on saying no and telling him to go shove off. as he made her daddy issues remark she snapped at him, "i dont want things to be perfect, i dont want to be his angel. he left me so why should i give him what he wants when i never got what i wanted." this was always a touchy subject for her. she really was angry with her father for leaving, but in reality she was more angry with herself for hurting her father so much.
she glared at him for a moment more, as if saying drop the father subject, she didnt want to talk about it, at all, to anyone. she took another sip of her coffee before sighing. "this place is boring and getting too crowded for me" she looked around at the new line that was forming behind the counter. her mind was snapped back as he began his rant on the oranges again. she looked at him, arching her eyebrow again before rolling her eyes. "i wouldnt be dumb enough to steal from a farmers tree anyway, they carry guns." she nodded at him, she was daring, but not stupid. there was a huge difference.

AND IT WAS YOUR HEART ON THE LINE So then for once they agreed. What was back in Hawaii, stayed in Hawaii; attitudes, past relationships and all. Well maybe not completely a clean slate but at least a clearer one. It was like a second chance that so many people sought for, to write a wrong, but in truth, julian wouldn’t have minded had they kept their old dynamic. After all, all men, no matter how charming and nice, liked the chase. And shane had to be the hardest catch there was. However, he could use her free second chance to his advantage; start in the good graces, rope her into a little bit of his adrenaline intoxicated life, and maybe un like back in Hawaii, they’d end up spending more…pleasurable time together. But like she had stated before, Jules hadn’t changed much except for filling in his body more since he left. He wasn’t quite able to pin her exactly, sure she looked great (she always did in his opinion) and she had that no bullshit attitude that made his nerves crawl with rough chills. There was something about not so innocent girls that was that much more exciting. Or that at least got his heart beating enough to imitate the adrenaline in his veins and give him a fake high. Nerves crackled under his skin at her response. Good, that meant things could get a lot more interesting later. “you most definitely will,” he looked down at his coffee but spoke clearly to her. It had come to his attention now that the third of liquid left in his cup was to distasteful to try anymore. It use was over as he now had a better means to keep himself from tearing his hair out in boredom; shane. As the young man was about to toss his cup to the nearly by trash can he briefly froze at a bristling outburst. He didn’t wince, no, but he did end up putting his hands up in surrender. He wasn’t stupid, the man knew a touchy subject when it come up, besides he wasn’t willing to sacrifice his company’s new found kindness toward him just to press a subject that he’d knew they’d both detest discussion, “Sorry shane, I didn’t mean to provoke you.” And then he dropped his hands, the focus of the conversation falling with them. They had never talked about their family matters to each other before and that obviously wasn’t likely to change any time soon. Very well, he could deal with the detachment of personal situations. He doubt she cared about the oranges, but it was a good change to the topic, and a rather distracting one at that. “And the guns just makes it all the more fun,” a odd sort of devious smirk capped his expression, it was one thing he knew other people that didn’t share his flare for the thrilling wouldn’t understand, “and it wasn’t dumb; it was gutsy, not dumb. There is a difference.” He’d given this speech before, to other people who questioned his methods, but regarding the girl with him with, Julian figured she’d just make a bigger deal about it had he continued and explained the difference of the two words with definitions. “Anyways,” he drawled out smoothly, tossing his cup before he just forgot about it in his hands, already having forgot about the phone number on the cup, “you were right, this place is getting old,” a light sigh highlighted his words as he scanned the café, more people and not half as interesting, “Want to come race planes with me?” he meant exactly what it sounded like, besides, the young man had his motorcycle and he was eager to test its top speeds. And the airport wasn’t that far away… __ OUTFIT |
